Administrative Issues to Discuss

Annual report is being worked on by Noreen. She has everything she needs for now and will reach out others as/if required.

World IA Day – Suggestions

A Survey monkey form without collecting IP information will be created by Noreen for organizers and the IAI to share with attendees.  Ask people to provide email IF they want to get back to them.

UXPin Polar Bear sponsor issue?

Marcin sent a link to a YouTube about the UXPin video.  We forwarded to local coordinators to show to the audience.  Not sure if others had shown the video at any other site. A suggestion to Jessica to put a link to video on the website for World IA Day by Noreen. Jessica provided a follow-up email to Marcin about the process followed just prior to today’s Board meeting about what was done.

New IAI PowerPoint template created by Shari

Dan will post to the Basecamp site and people can access from that point.   Vanessa will receive materials that need to be printed for the Summit workshops – ASIS&T provides this service.  Shari will follow-up.

Website

Dorian provided an overview of the semantic approach to organizing data on all content for a new website for the IAI in time.  Great progress is being made.  Chris will continue to work with Dorian in this effort moving forward.

IA Summit – Passes.  Podcast.  AGM

Dick confirmed that UIE will do the summit podcasts this year. Focus on the joint efforts by IAI and ASIS&T as an alternative to doing the podcasts as in the past.  Dan will be talking about our sponsorship in general.  Noreen has bar packages and other options for AGM meeting.  Podcast possibly have Jeff and Chris record and publish speaker interviews on Boxes and Arrows and Johnny Holland.

Proposal from University in Italy working on a project being funded by their Government

Asked if the IAI would be part of the research project. The IAI is only required to send in a letter of intent. ndrea will write a follow-up letter to the Board providing an overview and we need to make that decision by end of day tomorrow, Tuesday. All he requires is a “thumbs up” or “thumbs down” from Board members.

VOTE: The decision to submit a letter of intent was passed by the Board via an email vote.

  • Translations Initiative
  • World IA Day this Saturday!
  • IAI Website

Translations Initiative

Translation lead, Janette Shewing, has stepped down due to increased job commitments, and we are looking for a replacement. Dorian suggests sending a thank you on behalf of the IAI. Dan going to follow-up and provide a gift basket or other as a means of showing our appreciation for her efforts over the years.

World IA Day this Saturday!

Issue status updates to the directors list of the IAI as well as global update emails to be sent out by Dan. Getting coordinated with the various locations. World IA Day Twitter please tweet about our Sponsors. Ann Arbor, Vancouver, Los Angeles, and Japan are SOLD OUT with waiting lists. Andrea is heading to South Africa to open the conference. UXPin Polar Bear sponsor.

Dan has Adobe Creative Suite software to distribute to organizers of World IA Day. Bev brought up the need to talk to Adobe about international distribution and Dan will follow-up.

Jeff asked about Flickr update to Pro on the IAI site – Dan will manage.  In addition please RT the sponsor thanks from @WorldIADay

Great timezone tool shared by Dorian http://everytimezone.com/

We need to discuss details about how to build upon this first event following World IA Day. It was agreed that we wouldn’t make any promises about next year, only ask for feedback at the various events.

IAI Website

Chris and Dorian described the approach to the site. The first iteration of the site map was distributed and the approach to the updated website for the IAI. We aren’t just a practice in UX but we intersect with many other disciplines – position statement within the updated site and how we move forward.

IA Summit

Total value of passes given was $9,000 to attend the IAI at the second speaker rate – generously provided by Dick Hill. Looking at a trade to have us manage the podcast and publication of audio and provide transcripts. Dan will follow-up with Dick to understand the interest in getting the work done. Jeff will share with Dan the time spent in setting up the shows and effort / cost involved.
