* Administrative Issues to Discuss – Noreen and Tim
Newsletter to be reviewed by the Board. Dan noted we should look at sending out the message so it doesn’t get truncated like on Gmail. Noreen will look to resolve.
* Alla Zollers proposal – Andrea
Discussed a proposal by Alla Zollers to create a distance learning career planning course for UX professionals. She plans on doing the course more than once through the year and is requesting resources such as volunteers and the like, and would charge a nominal fee for participation. She was looking to finish the course by mid February.
It was generally agreed that a career planning course is a good idea and aligns with our Education and Mentoring initiatives. Unfortunately, the timing of the proposal would conflict with World IA Day and the upcoming Summit, amongst other plans. We will work to connect Alla with others in the industry to help her build the course. Once reviewed we can look at the possibility of doing this in the future.
* Website update – Dorian
Making cartridges to view only the content to facilitate an audit and the associative links between content that aren’t sections. Dorian will be sending an email to us over the holidays to provide that overview. Chris is putting together a story that takes into account where the IAI is at currently and what the community needs from us, accordingly. Jeff will be meeting with Chris and Dorian early in the new year over Skype (outside the Board meeting) to discuss milestones and next steps.
* World IA Day Updates? – Local organizers are getting things together and Dan expects that we’ll have several news articles to share. Sponsor package has been drafted. Twitter accounts have been received and people are slowly getting the organization of the day and ideas together. Several have contacted Jeff to verify they have received their Twitter accounts.
* Issues / Matters to discuss around IA Summit?
Andrea needs time with Abby and Dan to take back to the Board about the letter we send back to him about our involvement with ASIS&T. There has been no official endorsement of the podcasts for the IA Summit in 2012. Will discuss details in January about possibly moving forward. Jeff is interested, but needs the support of a professional A/V team to provide him with the audio.
