Alliance with New York Technology Council

New York City is one of many major metropolitan areas that are promoting its technology sector, with the NYC Big Apps contest, open data initiatives, promotion of NYC tech startups that are hiring (http://mappedinny.com/), as well as a newly signed deal to site a Cornell University technology campus in the city. It is also home to IA Institute Operations Manager, Noreen Whysel and Co-Founder and Development Manager, Bev Corwin.

Noting an opportunity for IA Institute to get involved in the growing tech sector in New York, Noreen and Bev reached out to the New York Technology Council's new executive director, Erik Grimmelmann, and will be attending their latest UX Workshop (and first ever half day session) on June 6 in New York City. The event features keynotes by Bill Albert and Mark Resnick, professors in Human Factors in Information Design at Bentley University in Waltham, MA, USA. Mark Resnick was a 2007 IA Institute Progress Grant recipient. NYTECH hosted over 50 events last year around over a dozen interest tracks, and recently hosted an author series featuring former IA Institute advisor, author and Harvard professor, David Weinberger. We already feel at home.

If you are in New York on June 6, consider joining NYTECH for its first half-day session, UX Design Sucess, focusing on the latest thinking in UX design and research:

"The session will focus on recent trends in cognitive and behavioral science research as it applies to UX design....Join us for an eye-opening view into the cognitive processes of your customers and how they judge the quality of your UX design solutions....Do not miss this session."

Be sure to look for IA Institute members and representatives at all of our upcoming events.
