IA Institute Newsletter - #1.4 April 2006

Annual IAI Member Meeting Recap

We held our annual IAI member meeting during the recent IA Summit in Vancouver. We used a portion of the meeting to update the attending membership with our financial status, our initiatives and the ongoing business planning for the IA Institute. We then allocated the majority of the session for talking to our members and getting your thoughts and ideas about what you want from the IA Institute. The IAI board was very pleased with the attendance and we were thrilled to get such valuable feedback from our members.

We welcome any thoughts on the IAI and how it can better serve you. Feel free to email it to us via info AT iainstitute.org.

IAI to Sponsor IA Summit and IA Retreat in Chile

The Institute has approved a request for sponsorship for the IA Summit and IA Retreat in Chile. The First Latin American Information Architecture Summit will be held this November 2 and 3 in Santiago, followed on November 4 and 5 by the New Horizons for IA: 2006 Information Architecture Retreat in Santa Cruz, Chile. A strong roster of speakers and intensive rounds of discussion are planned.

This event will mark a historic meeting between the small yet active local community that has been growing in Chile and the global, English-speaking IA community. The event hopes to be the start of a nurtured link between these two groups and to set an example for moving IA discussion into other regions of the world. The event is hosted by the Millenium Science Initiative at Universidad de Chile. For more information contact Javier Velasco (javier AT mantruc.com).

IAI Volunteer Coordinator Search

The Institute is currently recruiting for a paid, part-time Volunteer and Membership (VM) Coordinator. The key qualification is experience coordinating volunteers and membership programs. Candidates don't have to be members of the Institute, and don't have to be IAs (though it's also okay to be either). View the VM Coordinator listing here or contact treasury AT iainstitute.org for more information.
