Nominations are Now Open for the 2010-2012 IA Institute Board of Directors

August is always an important month here at the IAI because it's also election time. This year, you (you are a member, aren't you?) will be voting to fill five spots on the Board of Directors.

With five open director positions, there is an opportunity for sweeping and long-lasting change to the Institute, keeping in mind that the organization faces challenges which cannot be ignored. We are documenting several initiatives the current board is working on which will need to be addressed first by the newly elected directors, and hope that potential board candidates will draft their personal statement to not just address these open initiatives, but others they may be passionate in pursuing.

Please see the Election 2010 web page for more details.

Based upon our experience during the past eight years of operation, we recommends the following criteria for consideration:

  • Commitment. Candidates should have demonstrated real commitment through action to the IA Institute and to the information architecture community.
  • Leadership. Candidates should possess the ability to motivate, organize and lead diverse, international teams of volunteers.
  • Relationships. Candidates should have solid professional networks and the ability to build bridges between disciplines, cultures and organizations

If you'd like to nominate someone, please take a moment to visit the IAI Board Of Directors Nomination Form. We'll be accepting nominations until August 28th. Nominees then have until September 8th to accept or decline the nomination and submit a position statement. We'll all vote between September 9 and September 15. And the new and old Board will meet jointly for the first time on September 20th.
